Your Daily Dose of Sunshine

Dreaming of a sunny beach getaway? This smoothie is your ticket to paradise! I first whipped up this recipe while planning a trip to Mexico, and one sip instantly transported me to a lounge chair by the ocean. It’s a vibrant, creamy blend of tropical fruits that works perfectly as a power-packed breakfast or a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up. Let’s blend up some sunshine!

Ingredients

• 2 cups / 480 ml plain organic soy yogurt
• 2 cups / 480 ml frozen fruit mix (mango, pineapple, strawberries, peach)
• 1 Tbsp / 15 ml hulled hemp seeds
• 1 Tbsp / 15 ml golden flaxseed
• 1 Tbsp / 15 ml oat bran
• 2 Tbsp / 30 ml vegan protein powder
• ½ tsp / 2.5 ml pure vanilla extract
• Juice of 1 lime

Instructions

1. Combine all —soy yogurt, frozen fruit, hemp seeds, flaxseed, oat bran, protein powder, vanilla, and lime juice—in a high-speed blender.
2. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
3. Pour into glasses and enjoy immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Pro Tips

• For an extra thick, spoonable smoothie bowl, reduce the soy yogurt by ½ cup or add an extra ½ cup of frozen fruit.
• Create smoothie packs for quick mornings! Portion the frozen fruit, seeds, oat bran, and protein powder into individual freezer-safe bags. When ready, just dump the contents into the blender with the yogurt and lime juice.
• When choosing a vegan protein powder, opt for unflavored or vanilla varieties to complement the fruit flavors. If using a vanilla-flavored powder, you can omit the vanilla extract.
• Garnish with a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes, a fresh mint sprig, or a lime wheel to enhance the tropical vacation vibe.

FAQ

Q: What are the main vegetarian protein sources in this smoothie
A: This smoothie gets its powerful plant-based protein from three key ingredients: the organic soy yogurt, the hulled hemp seeds, and the vegan protein powder, providing a combined 13 grams of protein per serving to keep you full and energized.

Q: Can I use a different plant-based yogurt instead of soy
A: Absolutely! While soy yogurt provides a great creamy texture and protein, you can easily substitute it with other plant-based yogurts like coconut, almond, or cashew yogurt. Keep in mind that this may slightly alter the final nutritional values and creaminess.

Q: Can I make this smoothie ahead of time
A: For the best texture, this smoothie is best enjoyed immediately. However, you can prep smoothie packs for quick assembly by portioning the frozen fruit, seeds, oat bran, and protein powder into freezer-safe bags. When you’re ready, just add the contents to your blender with the soy yogurt and lime juice.
