Looking for a breakfast that truly powers you through the morning? Ditch the boring cereal and blend up this incredible Banana Blueberry Power Smoothie! It’s more than just a drink; it’s a creamy, delicious, and nutrient-dense meal in a glass. Packed with fruit, sunflower seeds, and hemp seeds, it delivers a serious dose of protein, healthy fats, and omega-3s to keep you feeling full, focused, and fantastic until lunchtime. Let’s get blending!

Ingredients

• Makes 2 1/2 cups / 625 mL
• 1/4 cup / 60 mL raw sunflower seeds
• 3 pitted dates

2. Transfer the soaked sunflower seeds, dates, and all of their soaking liquid into a high-speed blender.
3. Add the banana, blueberries, and hemp seeds to the blender.
4. Process on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
5. For a thinner consistency, add a little more water and blend again until you reach your desired texture. Serve immediately.

Pro Tips

• If you’re short on time, skip the long soak. Cover the sunflower seeds and dates with boiling water and let them sit for 30 minutes before blending.
• For an extra thick and frosty smoothie, use a frozen banana and frozen blueberries. You may need a splash more water to get it blending smoothly.
• Add a handful of fresh spinach or kale for a boost of greens. The sweet fruit will completely mask the flavor.
• Pre-portion the dry (sunflower seeds, dates, hemp seeds) into small bags for a quick grab-and-blend breakfast throughout the week.

FAQ

Q: Is this smoothie a good source of plant-based protein
A: Absolutely! This smoothie provides 18 grams of high-quality plant-based protein, primarily from the hemp seeds and sunflower seeds. Hemp seeds are a fantastic vegetarian source as they are a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids.

Q: Can I use other seeds instead of sunflower or hemp seeds
A: Yes, you can easily substitute the seeds. Raw cashews or pumpkin seeds can replace sunflower seeds for a creamy base. For the omega-3 boost from hemp seeds, you can use chia seeds or ground flax seeds, which will also add extra fiber.

Q: How can I make this vegetarian smoothie even more filling
A: To increase the satiety of this smoothie, try adding 1/4 cup of rolled oats or a tablespoon of chia seeds before blending. This boosts the fiber content, helping you feel full longer. A scoop of your favorite vegetarian protein powder is another great option.

Q: Can I make this smoothie ahead of time
A: While it’s best served immediately, you can store the smoothie in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. It may separate, so just shake or stir it well before drinking. You can also pre-portion the dry ingredients for quick blending throughout the week.
