Let’s build a masterpiece!

Ingredients

• Makes about 12 servings
• 1 large seedless watermelon, about 10 lbs / 4.5 kg
• 1 ripe pineapple
• 1 cup / 250 mL strawberries, hulled
• 2 kiwi, peeled
• Toothpicks
• Optional: 3 to 4 cups / 750 mL to 1 L of other fruits like melon balls, grapes, or berries

Instructions

1. Prep the Watermelon: Slice about 1 inch / 2.5 cm off both ends of the watermelon. Stand it on one end and carefully cut it in half lengthwise.
2. Peel the Watermelon: Working with one half at a time, stand it on its cut end and carefully slice away the green rind and white pith.
3. Prep the Pineapple: Cut the top and bottom off the pineapple. Stand it upright and slice off the peel. Cut it lengthwise into quarters, then remove the tough core from each quarter. Slice the quarters into 1/2-inch / 1 cm thick pieces.
4. Prepare the Berries & Kiwi: Wash and slice the strawberries in half. Slice the peeled kiwis into 1/4-inch / 5 mm thick rounds.
5. Assemble the Base: Place one peeled watermelon half, flat-side down, on a large serving platter.
6. Decorate: Secure pieces of pineapple, strawberry, and kiwi to the watermelon using toothpicks. Get creative and make a fun pattern!
7. Chill and Serve: Arrange any leftover fruit around the base of the sculpture. For the best taste, chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving. To serve, slice the decorated watermelon into wedges.
