    Vegan Dasz Ice Cream

    Makes about 2 1/2 cups (625 mL)

    If you have a masticating juicer (such as a Champion) or a twin-gear juicer (such as a Green Power or Green Star), you can make the simplest, lowest fat, non-dairy ice cream imaginable. The fat content is low and the potassium high because the only ingredient is bananas! Ice cream will be thicker if the juicer parts and bowl are chilled before processing. To make this ice cream in a food processor, see the variation below.

    4 peeled, frozen ripe bananas
    Feed frozen banana halves or pieces gradually into a juicer that is fitted with a blank (in place of the juicing screen) and process until smooth. Serve immediately.

    Mixed Fruit Ice Cream

    Create your own treats by using 2 frozen bananas plus 2 cups (500 mL) other frozen fruits, such as mango, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, or a combination. Serve immediately.

    Chocolate Ice Cream

    Add 2 teaspoons (10 mL) cocoa or carob powder along with each banana so that the cocoa powder is mixed in with the banana as it goes through the juicer. Serve immediately.

    Food Processor Method

    Place 2 cups (500 mL) frozen banana pieces or other frozen fruit in the food processor along with 1 cup (250 mL) non-dairy milk (such as hemp seed, almond, or soy milk) and process until smooth. Serve immediately.
