    Spiced Irish Oatmeal

    PREP: 10 minutes COOK: 25 minutes MAKES 4 servings

    3 cups water

    1 cup steel-cut oats

    1 tablespoon packed brown sugar

    1⁄4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1⁄8 teaspoon salt

    1⁄8 teaspoon ground allspice

    Dash ground cloves or nutmeg

    Fat-free milk (optional)

    1 In a medium saucepan combine the water, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, allspice, and cloves. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until oats are desired doneness, stirring occasionally. If desired, serve with milk.
