    Grapefruit And Avocado Salad

I could eat guac all day. But aren’t you tired of the same old mushy versions? Whip up this crunchier alternative and watch how your friends and family light up when they bite into the juicy tart pieces of Granny Smith apple. They’ll never guess what genius move you made to turn this classic favorite into a surprising treat.

    SERVES 8 TO 10

3 ripe avocados, halved and pitted

½ cup finely chopped Vidalia onion

    ½ cup snipped fresh cilantro

    Juice of 1 lime

    Tabasco sauce

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and finely chopped

    Kosher salt or table salt

Assorted dippers (such as baked fruit crisps, apple chips, and/or tortilla chips)

Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl and add the onion, cilantro, juice, and Tabasco to taste. Mash with a fork until the desired consistency is reached. Then fold in the apple and season with salt.

Serve with dippers of choice on the side.
