  • Make a big batch! You can store the strained tea in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Gently reheat on the stove when you need a quick cup.

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the grated ginger, grated fresh turmeric (if using), and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Immediately remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Stir in the lemon juice, honey (or maple syrup), and ground turmeric (if using).
  5. Carefully pour the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into two mugs. Use the back of a spoon to press the ginger and turmeric pulp against the sieve to extract every last drop of flavorful juice.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy immediately.
  8. Add a pinch of black pepper. The piperine in pepper significantly increases the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric.
  9. Don't boil the honey or lemon juice.
  10. Adding them off the heat helps preserve their delicate nutrients and enzymes.
