Ingredients

  • Spicy Nori & Sesame Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml / 1 fl oz) black chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml / 1 fl oz) toasted white sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml / 0.2 fl oz) finely chopped dried orange peel
  • 1 4x7-inch / 10x18-cm sheet of nori, finely ground
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml / 0.2 fl oz) cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml / 0.2 fl oz) red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml / 0.2 fl oz) hemp seeds
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml / 0.2 fl oz) finely chopped dried ginger root
  • Pro-Tips for the Perfect Blend
  • For the best texture and a potent, zesty kick, use finely chopped dried ginger root instead of ground ginger powder.
  • A clean coffee or spice grinder is the perfect tool for turning a brittle nori sheet into a fine, easy-to-mix powder.
  • Toast your own white sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until fragrant and lightly golden for a deeper, nuttier flavor.
  • Customize the heat by adjusting the amount of cayenne and red pepper flakes. Start with half a teaspoon of each if you prefer a milder blend.

Method

  1. Prepare the Nori: Using a clean coffee or spice grinder, pulse the nori sheet until it becomes a fine powder.
  2. Combine : In a small bowl or directly in a clean jar, combine the ground nori, black chia seeds, toasted white sesame seeds, dried orange peel, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, hemp seeds, and dried ginger.
  3. Mix and Store: Seal the jar and shake vigorously to combine all the thoroughly. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
