Ingredients

  • (Makes 2)
  • ½ cup (80 g / 2.82 oz) frozen Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1½ cups / 360ml (12.2 fl oz) unsweetened almond milk
  • 4–6 ice cubes
  • For an extra creamy texture, soak the dates in warm water for 15 minutes before blending, especially if not using a high-speed blender.
  • If your dates aren't frozen, use 2-3 extra ice cubes to achieve the same thick, chilled consistency.
  • For a richer drink, substitute ½ cup of the almond milk with full-fat coconut milk from a can.

Method

  1. Ensure all pits are removed from your frozen Medjool dates.
  2. Place the pitted dates, almond milk, and ice cubes into a high-speed blender.
  3. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, with no date pieces remaining.
  4. Pour immediately into two glasses and serve.
  5. Add a pinch of ground cardamom or a drop of vanilla extract before blending to introduce a warm, aromatic flavor.
